Marty Typer was a conservative Republican before he was old enough to vote. At the age of ten, Marty to worked with his parents to help a family friend run for the Illinois House of Representatives. With this successful election, Marty was bitten with the 'political' bug. While in high school, Marty walked door to door to promote county and state candidates where he learned the value of face to face contact during the election process.
The position of Precinct Committeeman came open in 1982 and Marty was appointed to represent Marion Township. Marty has held this position ever since and proudly serves today. While working on many elections for local and state offices, serving as county coordinator for state campaigns, serving on the executive committee of the Ogle County Republican Party, holding each of the county party offices, Marty advanced to serve as chairman. As chairman he also served on the Illinois Republican Chairman Association.
Marty first ran for public office in the spring of 1992. The opportunity came to run for Ogle County Circuit Clerk and Marty took it. The outcome of the race was a very large victory. Marty Typer went on to win five elections as court clerk; four of which were challenged. They all had the same overwhelming results.
Marty was elected to the Ogle County Board in 2012.
Upon the request of several political friends and advisors, Marty has written a campaign manual to help new candidates run their campaign.
